Andrew and Helen's Pre-wedding shoot. Venice, Italy

Andrew and Helen are marrying in exactly one years time and thought it prudent to schedule their pre-wedding shoot in at this early stage to allow us to look at the locations and lighting at this time of year. Following a late night flight on Monday it was an early start Tuesday, for a day looking at locations around the islands, hitting the popular tourist spots and also looking for the quiet 'off the beaten track locations' in advance of the pre-wedding shoot on Wednesday.

After meeting up with Helen and Andrew outside their wedding ceremony venue we took a look around inside, the ceremony room providing great views of the Rialto Bridge and Grand Canal from above the busy street.

From here we headed off to St marks Square via a possible photo location Andrew and Helen had looked at and wanted my opinion about. With Andrew leading the way we (and this is no dig Andrew!) eventually arrived where we needed to be. They say you haven't been to Venice unless you've got lost and well, upto today I'd managed not to, at least Andrews navigating helped me tick off another of the tourist must dos!

The benefit of the pre-wedding shoot quickly became apparent when we started looking at the logistics involved in moving all the wedding guests across the busy city and having an easy to find focal point to meet up. On their wedding day, Andrew and Helen plan to leave the ceremony and head off by Water Taxi to enable us to make a start on the photographs before the guests join us.

Thanks to the pre-wedding shoot we have now sorted the locations for the large and small family groups and have plenty of ideas for locations for Helen and Andrew. Fingers crossed the weather is as good this time next year.

Venice Scenery

During Tuesday's walk around it was easy to shoot a few scenic images, returning at sunset to capture some further photographs I'd envisaged during the day.

Matt and Jo's wedding Oulton Hall near Leeds

Matt and Jo married on Saturday in a civil ceremony at Oulton Hall near Leeds. The weather belied the fact that the wedding was taking place late September, with blue skies, no wind and the temperature sitting comfortably above twenty. Perfect weather for a wedding and of course wedding photographs!

Oulton Hall's grounds and interior lend themselves perfectly to wedding photos providing stunning backdrops and settings for the wedding.

Yasmin and Jim's wedding, Hodsock priory near Worksop, Nottinghamshire

Only a few days since their pre-wedding shoot it was back to Hodsock Priory near Worksop on Friday for the wedding of Yasmin and Jim. Their civil ceremony was held in the bright and airy Pavilions and a drinks reception followed on the lawn. With only a few formals and a minimal amount of posing, it was an informal shooting day allowing us to get in amongst the guests for plenty of candid and don't look now it's the photographer photos.

Although the brief was informal for the majority of photographs Yasmin and Jim did want to make use of Hodsock Priory's excellent grounds and take a walk around the lake. An ideal opportunity for them to spend some time alone and allowing us to grab some photographs of the happy couple together.

The evening reception and first dance featured singing by the Vernon Sister's who performed a great set of Mowtown hits which were a guaranteed floor filler.

Gallery updates and a new album online

The main Wedding Gallery has finally (after about eighteen months) had an update! Since I started adding regular images to the blog, the actual weddings gallery has been somewhat neglected. Finally yesterday I got around to adding new photographs, bringing the total to above 200. Possibly too many but it was so hard to choose! Click here to view the main wedding gallery

I've also added a gallery for a new story book wedding album, Anthony and Charlotte's wedding at Allerton Castle back in August forms a 70 page square Graphistudio album. Michala and Matt's pre-wedding shoot, Walton Hall

Marrying at Crab Manor near Thirsk later next month, I met Matt and Michala at Walton hall on Tuesday morning for a pre-wedding shoot and to plan their wedding photographs. Matt and Michala are using one of the images from today's shoot for a signing frame. Whilst the happy couple at lunch at Waterton park I was able to edit the images and present them with a slideshow preview of the photographs.

Keith and Marie's wedding at Walton Hall Waterton Park Wakefield

Keith and Marie married Sunday at Waterton Park in Wakefield. Following some preparation photos on the island with Marie I caught up with Keith and his groomsmen for some photos on the golf course and around the hotel before the ceremony.

With the sun shining the island made the perfect venue for the drinks reception and the ideal backdrop for the photographs.

The evening ended with some after dark photographs of the happy couple on the island.

Jon and Sarah's wedding at Walton Hall Waterton Park.

Back to Yorkshire today for Jon and Sarah's wedding. Following preparation photos with Sarah I headed over to Castleford Parish Church to Jon and the guys for some photos with their wedding car. Jon had been quite excited during the pre-wedding meeting, he'd booked Kitt from the TV series Knight Rider for the men's transport and the amenable driver had even managed to park the car in the church grounds.

Following the ceremony we moved onto Walton Hall at Waterton Park for the wedding reception and wedding breakfast, with the sun shining and some great weather the photo session was quickly despatched allowing Jon and Sarah plenty of time for enjoying the day with their guests.

Dave and Adell's wedding at Rowton Castle in Shropshire

Located on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, Rowton Castle was a new wedding venue to me, thankfully a pre-wedding recce had allowed me to assess the best photo-locations and plan the day ahead.

A misty start soon cleared to excellent weather, blue skies and a big sun, with Rowton Castle providing a superb backdrop, the photographs just kept coming and coming, even the sunset didn't disappoint with a superb purple sky which was still evident an hour later as we headed outside again for some after dark images.
