Ross and Gemma's wedding - Kings Croft Pontefract

Kings Croft Wedding photography Kings Croft Wedding

Gemma and Ross married on Saturday at Hightown Church in Castleford before celebrating at Kings Croft in Pontefract.

Having now photographed Gemma twice as a bridesmaid there were plenty of familiar faces around including no less than two previous brides in the bridal party. Delivering something different is a big requirement in situations like this, Gemma and Ross's album has to look very different to those from the other weddings they have attended and so although a few shots may look similar the overall feel will hopefully be a little different.

The grounds at The Kings Croft have been well developed over the last few years and so there were plenty of photo opportunities for pictures of Ross and Gemma and then later with their guests.

Ross and his grooms men wore a traditional Scottish outfit, although thankfully they were wearing pants under the kilts (and I checked before laying down on the ground for a look down shot!). One shot request I had was for the guys to be pretending to flash the bride and bridesmaids who were to look suitably embarrassed, knowing this was on the list the guys had written the letters of 'Gemma & Ross' across their pants and even remembered to stand in the correct sequence so it was spelt correctly. Probably as fine a tribute to the happy couple as there could be!

The movie clip below features the images used on the big screen during Ross and Gemma's evening reception.

I can't post without including a mention for Mel at Passion Flowers for providing the stunning wedding flowers.

Chris and Janine's wedding - Wentbridge House

Chris and Janine married on Friday at The Church of The Sacred heart in Hemsworth before celebrating at Wentbridge House near Pontefract. Friends had very kindly provided Chris and Janine with their wedding car, a red 1930's Alvis lovingly restored just in time for their big day. With the car there for the day we were able to position it where required and ensured both Chris & Janine and the driver went away with photos of the car.

Two years ago I photographed Chris' Brother's wedding at Waterton Park so on Friday there were plenty of familiar faces around and of course it was great to see Richard and Janet again. With the weather being very kind to us, guests enjoyed a drinks reception and canapés on the lawn whilst we were busy shooting informal images before the small number of formals were quickly taken care of.

The evening reception featured the large screen display of images, (Some of which appear in the movie clip below), during the evening we also gathered all the guests together on the lawn as Chris and Janine had asked for a shot with all the extra gusts as well. The light summer evening allowing us to shoot this after 9PM.

Danae and Nick's Pre-wedding shoot

"You'll tell me if I suck?" This was Danae's primary concern before we started the pre-wedding shoot on Friday! In all honesty both Danae and Nick were fantastic and neither 'Sucked'. They are marrying next month at Allerton Castle and going on today's pre-wedding shoot fun I can't wait!

Nick and Danae Added: Wow!! We have just had our first look at these now, and wanted to say thank you very much! They really are great. These are spot on, and just what we want on the day, although maybe just a few more serious-type ones as well (got to minimise the laughter lines!).

Mark and Laura's wedding - Hazlewood Castle near York

Hazlewood Castle wedding photography

Laura and Mark married on Thursday at Hazlewood Castle. With a small and intimate civil ceremony in the old dining hall the couple were then Blessed in the chapel of St Leonard's within the grounds of Hazlewood Castle.

Although a  little chilly the weather stayed dry and we were able to make use of the grounds for both family formal images and the more relaxed shots of the bridal party and of course Mark and Laura!

The evening rounded off after the first dance with some night shots around the castle.

Sam and Ben's wedding - Walton Hall at Waterton Park Wakefield

Another glorious day and the perfect weather for a wedding. The morning started at Sam's parents with hair and make up preparations before it was time to slip on the dress (Sam, not me!) and take some more photographs before I joined Sam and his groomsmen at Walton Hall.

As a regular photographer of civil ceremony weddings at Waterton Park the registrars know me well and so I was able to take photographs throughout the ceremony whilst Alex covered the angles form the rear of the room. Sam had arrived in a Daimler limousine provided by Andrew of R&S wedding cars of Upton near Pontefract. Andrew was waiting for them outside after the ceremony and following some confetti throwing (More of an assault really as sixty cones worth of confetti were synchronised onto the bide and groom within a second!) the bride and groom were taken for a short drive. This allowed the guests to walk onto the island for the drinks reception whilst I prepared the location for the car photographs when Ben and Sam returned.

The weather continued throughout the day and with speeches and the wedding breakfast out of the way most guests were quickly back outside in the good weather and again provided a great opportunity for some discrete candid photographs.

Ben and Sam were back outside for the stunning sunset and again an hour later taking photographs of the couple on the island before I bid them goodnight.

I know Sam and Ben made the right choice when they chose you to do the photographs and after seeing the tasters of the photos you had taken earlier on in the day I can't wait to see the rest."
Mr Burke Added: Thank you for all your efforts which resulted in the excellent photos that are a lasting memory of our only granddaughters magic day!
Nikki Added: Chris, I think all your photo's are fantastic and I had big trouble choosing which ones I wanted!!

Nicola and Richard's wedding - St Helen's church in Sandal to Walton Hall at Waterton Park Wakefield

Summers Here! After last weekends wet and at times sub zero feel the weather on Friday couldn't have been any different, clear skies, warm temperatures and only slight breeze. This is supposed to be summer after all....

Walton Hall near Wakefield, wedding photography Chris Chambers Wedding photo gallery at Walton Hall

Nicola and Richard chose to marry at St Helen's church in Sandal before making the short journey to Walton Hall for their wedding celebrations. Nicola and Richard had chosen an open top 1930's style open top tourer for their wedding car and it was almost a necessity that we stop off somewhere for a few photographs with the car. (It's always worth checking with your car company that they don't mind a short stop off, some wedding car drivers are very co-operative and others always seem to be in a rush to drop you off and high tail it away...I'll say no more!).

There was more a feeling of garden party at Waterton Park as everyone enjoyed the champagne and warm weather on the lawns to the accompaniment of a string quartet. The relaxed feel continued throughout the day and into the evening reception. As per usual the evening reception featured the large screen of wedding photos and we finished the night off with some shots outside using the stunning backdrop of the hall and the island.

Alistair and Naomi's wedding - Sandburn Hall near Flaxton, York.

A new venue for me today as I photographed the wedding of Alistair and Naomi at Sandburn Hall near Flaxton on the outskirts of York. Although the venue was new, I'd already been over and recce'd the venue and surrounding areas for photo opportunities so at least I wasn't arriving at Sandburn blind.

Having very recently photographed Alistair and Naomi in a pre-wedding shoot in York itself we were quickly into the swing of things. With no accommodation available at Sandburn Naomi and Alistair were both getting ready at the nearby Griffon Forest lodges (in separate lodges at opposite ends of the forest) so photographing preparation for them both was a doddle.

The ceremony and reception room at Sandburn Hall features massive glass windows and wooden beamed ceilings which looked great on the photographs. Following the ceremony we were able to make use of the grounds although very careful not to stray onto the golf course until well after 9PM when even the golfers had gone home.

During the evening reception we had the usual large screen display of wedding photographs and also managed to surprise the bride and groom with three mini books before they'd finished their dessert!

Mark and Tolla's wedding - Hazlewood Castle near York

Chris Chambers Photography

It was good to catch up with mark and Tolla again on Friday. Following on from their pre-wedding shoot a few months ago they were married today in a civil ceremony at Hazlewood Castle near York.

The morning started with coverage of mark's preparations at home in Leeds before I caught up with Tolla at Hazlewood Castle as she prepared for the wedding day. With a civil ceremony in the south facing and naturally lit Old Dining Hall we were able to take photos throughout the ceremony.

A close eye on the weather and approaching rain clouds looming large over towards the A1 we quickly despatched some of the large group images before rain stopped play and we had to continue indoors. Thankfully Hazlewood Castle offers some great indoor locations and so we varied the shots between the Flemish Hall, staircase and Mark and Tolla's bedroom.

During the evening reception guests were entertained by a firework display just before 10.30, the cover of the restaurant providing shelter from the incessant rain. What a day to forget to pack a coat!

Tolla Added: Thank you so much for the amazing photographs, and for all of your help and support. We had a fantastic day, and everyone has commented on how well this has been captured in the photos.  We couldn't agree more!

The family was very impressed with how skilled and efficient you were, especially
when it came to beating the weather for the group pictures - the wedding guests and
particularly the bridesmaids were very taken with you!

We were really glad that you were part of our big (and soggy!) day.
